YouTube Money Calculator: Estimate Earnings from Views (Planning Ranges)
Estimated ad revenue equals (views / 1,000) × assumed RPM. This YouTube revenue calculator returns a planning range, not a payout. Change views, niche, format, and geography to see the range move. A connected channel replaces assumptions with authenticated owner data from YouTube Analytics.

The model varies estimated ad revenue by niche, format, and broad audience geography. It is narrower than YouTube’s own RPM, which also includes channel memberships, YouTube Premium, Super Chat, and Super Stickers. Sponsorships, taxes, and off-platform income are excluded too.
How the estimate works
A YouTube revenue calculator estimates earnings with a simple planning formula: estimated ad revenue equals (views / 1,000) × assumed RPM. Assumed RPM is an input you choose, not a fact about your channel. This calculator does not ask you to type RPM directly. It uses the niche RPM presets already in the tool, then applies the live format and geography multipliers.
The live defaults are 100,000 monthly views, the Education preset (RPM $2.50– $10.00, typical $5.50), long-form video, and a mixed global audience. Those RPM figures are planning presets in this calculator. They are not authenticated RPM and not a claimed industry average.
| Input | What it changes |
|---|---|
| Monthly views | Sets the scale of the estimate. |
| Niche | Selects this calculator's planning RPM band. |
| Format and geography | Adjusts for Shorts versus long-form and higher- or lower-value audience markets. |
YouTube Help defines RPM as a creator-focused metric: revenue per 1,000 views after YouTube's revenue share, including ads, YouTube Premium, channel memberships, Super Chat, and Super Stickers. CPM is advertiser-focused: the cost per 1,000 ad impressions before revenue share. RPM is usually lower than CPM because it includes views that were not monetized. For isolated CPM or RPM math, use the CPM calculator and the RPM calculator. For definitions, see YouTube RPM vs CPM and how YouTube CPM differs from RPM.
What this calculator cannot know
This calculator cannot see your audience geography in detail, the share of views that were monetized playbacks, advertiser demand that week, seasonality, or whether brand deals and merch changed total income. Sponsorships, taxes, memberships beyond the estimate, and off-platform income are out of scope.
YouTube Help is explicit that RPM does not tell the full revenue story. It cannot show which revenue source caused a swing. Two channels with the same views can earn very different amounts. Treat every output as a range for planning. Do not treat it as a guaranteed payout.
Estimates vs authenticated RPM
Public YouTube money calculators, including Social Blade-style estimators, apply averaged assumptions to public view counts. That can be useful for curiosity and rough scale. It is a weak basis for payroll or pricing a brand deal. We explain that gap in How Accurate Are Social Blade Revenue Estimates?.
| Source | What it can see | Best use |
|---|---|---|
| This calculator | Views plus labeled RPM assumptions | Planning range |
| Social Blade-style estimate | Public views plus averaged assumptions | Curiosity / public benchmark |
| YouTube Studio / TubeAnalytics | Authenticated channel revenue | Real RPM decisions |
Authenticated RPM is the figure YouTube Analytics shows for a channel you own. Check it with the Real RPM Checker after you connect a channel, or analyze your channel's actual revenue. Every paid plan includes a 7-day free trial. There is no permanent free plan.
Assumptions used in this calculator
YouTube publishes no official benchmark revenue figures by niche or by country. The ranges below are this calculator's own directional assumptions, shown so you can judge the output rather than take it on trust. They are scenario inputs, not measured rates.

| Gaming | $1.20 | $2.80 | $5.50 |
| Entertainment | $0.90 | $2.20 | $4.50 |

| Music | $0.40 | $1.20 | $2.50 |

| How-to | $2.20 | $4.80 | $9.00 |
- Audience geography multiplier: mostly US, UK, CA, AU ×1.35 · mixed global ×1 · mostly emerging markets ×0.55.
- Shorts multiplier: ×0.035 against the long-form band, reflecting the pooled Shorts revenue model.
- Narrower than YouTube's RPM: the output covers estimated ad revenue only. YouTube Help's RPM also includes channel memberships, YouTube Premium, Super Chat, and Super Stickers, so your reported RPM can sit above this estimate.

Frequently asked questions
- How does a YouTube revenue calculator work?
- A YouTube revenue calculator estimates earnings by combining a view count with an assumed RPM. The planning formula is estimated ad revenue equals (views / 1,000) × assumed RPM. On this page you choose monthly views, a niche preset, long-form or Shorts, and a broad geography mix. The result is a planning range. It is not your YouTube payout.
- How accurate is a YouTube money calculator?
- A YouTube money calculator is a planning tool, not an accounting tool. Accuracy depends on whether the assumed RPM matches the channel. Public calculators cannot see geography mix, monetized playbacks, Shorts versus long-form, seasonality, sponsorships, taxes, or off-platform income. Treat the range as a sketch. For real earnings, use YouTube Studio or authenticated RPM after you connect a channel.
- What RPM should I use in a revenue calculator?
- Use an RPM you can defend. If you already have YouTube Analytics, use your own RPM for the same period and format. If you do not, keep this calculator's niche RPM presets, geography multiplier, and Shorts multiplier as labeled hypotheticals. Those presets are not a promise for your niche. Changing the view count without changing the assumption only scales the same guess.
- Is Social Blade's YouTube calculator accurate?
- Social Blade-style calculators are useful for public view trends, not reliable for actual earnings. They apply averaged CPM assumptions to public views and cannot see your real monetization mix. Use public estimates for curiosity. Use authenticated RPM when the number has to be true.
- How do I see my real YouTube earnings?
- Open YouTube Studio, then Analytics, then Revenue. That report shows estimated revenue and RPM for channels in the YouTube Partner Program. TubeAnalytics can show first-party RPM after you connect a channel. Start a 7-day free trial, connect the channel, and compare this calculator's planning range with the Real RPM Checker.
- Do Shorts use the same RPM as long-form?
- No. YouTube Help notes that Shorts RPM is based on engaged views, while long-form RPM includes all views. This calculator applies a separate Shorts multiplier against its long-form planning band rather than treating both formats alike. If you need a real figure, filter Revenue in YouTube Studio by Shorts, or connect the channel and inspect authenticated RPM by format.
