About Getting Started

Getting started with TubeAnalytics takes about five minutes. You connect your YouTube channel via Google OAuth β€” a read-only authorization that gives TubeAnalytics access to your analytics data through the official YouTube Analytics API. TubeAnalytics never requests write permissions, cannot post videos or change channel settings, and cannot access your Google account password. Once connected, your dashboard populates with historical data going back up to 90 days depending on your plan.

The Getting Started section walks you through every step of setup: authorizing your channel, navigating the dashboard for the first time, setting your notification preferences, and understanding how data refresh cycles work. Most new users have their first insights within 24 hours of connecting β€” and the setup articles below cover common troubleshooting scenarios if your data takes longer to appear.

Topics Covered in YouTube Analytics

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take for data to appear after connecting my channel?
Most channels see their first data within 24–48 hours of connecting. Channels with large back-catalogs (hundreds of videos, years of history) may take the full 48 hours to populate completely. After the initial sync, data updates daily. If your dashboard is still empty after 48 hours, go to Settings > Channel and click 'Resync Data' to trigger a manual refresh.
Does TubeAnalytics need my YouTube password?
No. TubeAnalytics uses Google OAuth β€” the same secure authorization system used by apps like Google Analytics and Hootsuite. You authorize access through Google's own consent screen, and TubeAnalytics receives a read-only token. We never see your password, cannot make changes to your channel, and cannot post on your behalf. You can revoke access at any time from your Google account security settings.
Can I connect more than one YouTube channel?
Yes, depending on your plan. The Starter plan supports one connected channel, the Pro plan supports up to three channels, and the Agency plan supports up to five channels. To add a second channel, go to Settings > Channels and click 'Add Channel.' Each channel gets its own dashboard view and analytics history.
What data does TubeAnalytics import when I first connect?
TubeAnalytics imports video metadata (titles, descriptions, thumbnails, publish dates), channel-level metrics (views, watch time, subscriber counts), per-video analytics (CTR, average view duration, traffic sources, retention curves), and audience data (demographics, geographic breakdown, device types). Revenue data is imported for monetized channels with AdSense connected. Historical depth depends on your plan β€” up to 90 days on Starter and Pro, unlimited on Agency.
What should I do if I see a 'channel not found' error during setup?
This error usually means you're authorizing with a Google account that isn't associated with a YouTube channel, or your channel is set to a restricted visibility state. Check that you're signed into the correct Google account β€” the one linked to your YouTube channel. If your channel was recently created, allow 24 hours before connecting, as new channels sometimes take time to propagate in YouTube's API.
